How your mindset determines your health?
Last week I had the joy and pleasure of presenting our first in the series of Meet. Mingle. Mindset. events at London’s stupendous new women’s club, The Allbright which is the brainchild of Anna Jones and Debbie Wosskow.
The club oozes female leadership in so many ways and with their commitment to make the UK a better place to be a working woman we were pleased to share the hot topic of ‘Health Mindset’.
Over the last week we have seen how two high profile celebrity individuals, Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain took their lives. To their family and friends we send our condolences. Once again this highlights the importance of ensuring that a good healthy mindset not only covers the physical, mental, emotional wellbeing of an individual but also the wider dynamics of feeling fulfilled, living live on purpose and also recognising the health of your business too.
On my panel I was joined by Jacqueline Harvey – Wellness Expert, Sinead de hOra – Intuitive Specialist and Richard Pryor – Fitness Expert. Whilst we covered many aspects what was most interesting was the number of people who struggled with sleep issues and stress related matters.
As Gandhi said “It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.”
Practicing self-care, focusing on a great routine, good food, fun exercise enables you to be in a much better position to use your energy wisely and also to tap into your reserves when necessary. As society becomes more connected through social media, the internet and connectivity through technology we are seeing the beginning of losing the human touch. Helping others ensure you do not lose sight of the human connection within your business is beneficial to a workforce with a happier and healthier mindset.
Over the course of the evening it was evident how many people lacked a good night’s sleep, rest, relaxation and the opportunity to create a stress free environment for themselves. With some of the added guidance from the panel many people went away with new tools to enhance their wellbeing kit bag.
“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.”
When you and your business pay attention to wellness there is a great opportunity for a win-win.
Here are some examples:-
- Increased productivity
- Decreased absenteeism
- Reduced healthcare costs
- Less work-related stress
- More motivated employees
- Better employee engagement
- Renewed sense of team camaraderie
- Improved health, well-being & happiness
- Alignment with company goals and company culture
- Opportunity to create a legacy
“The mind and body are not separate. what affects one, affects the other.”
