Change your Mind – Change your Life
Replacing Negativity with Positivity…..
How many times a day do you see the negative as opposed to the positive in all aspects around you, whether that is the workplace, family or society as a whole. Researchers, including Martin Seligman, Barbara Fredrickson, and Christopher Peterson, have shown biological reasons for positive emotions and how they relate to human survival and well-being. Let’s use some simple tools to bring about more positive effects for you, your team, your family and friends.
Name 3 positive thoughts you can fill your mind with?
This list of three specific good things may have happened recently, possibly yesterday – allow yourself time to reflect upon them. They could be anything from spending time with family, doing some research, taking time out to read a book, a beautiful sunrise or sunset, signing up a new client, your team finishing a project or joining a new course that’s fun.
Recognise how you think and feel about the three positive thoughts. This is one of many ways to rewire your brain for positivity. It is a simple yet empowering tool to help you focus on bringing more happiness and positivity into your life. As positive emotion is also linked to more innovation, better problem solving and a more connected individual and/or team. Try it out for the next week and see how it makes your feel.
“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.” – Willie Nelson
Is it time for you to create a new habit to support your emotional well-being?
As you go about your day ‘mind your mind’. Being mindful is paying attention to the present moment without judgement. Opening our awareness beyond the narrowness of negativity can help bring more balance and positivity into your life and help you create your future vision.
Using mindfulness meditation on a regular basis has been shown to affect the brain’s plasticity, increasing the gray matter in the hippocampus, an area of the brain that is important for learning, memory, and emotion and reducing gray matter in the amygdala, an area of the brain associated with stress and anxiety. Finding five to ten minutes a day can enhance your life and your health.

Are you fully supporting your team emotionally?
With positive thinking and messaging you can fully support your team, be it the team at home or in the office or your social team. We know the impact of telling someone they have done a good job, however the importance must be on not saying it for the sake of it but saying it with authenticity and integrity.
Ensuring you have an on-going form of recognition can keep your effective team motivated and engaged. It will also enhance their self-confidence, whilst supporting a culture of innovation and creativity. People prefer genuine communication, which present a clear and effective means to helping others. Look at how else you might support the team with added inspiration, motivation and learning, an away day, or group coaching/mentoring. With new tools and insights there is always tremendous benefits to be had.
